John McCartney is a Hydrogeologist and Mine Water Management Specialist. He has a BSc. in Geology and Chemistry, a post-graduate Diploma in Engineering Geology, and a MSc. in Hydrogeology and Groundwater Management. He has 30 years of professional experience and has been involved with many mining studies in all stages of development. John has considerable experience in hydrological and hydrogeological investigations and has managed the installation and optimization of mine water control measures, the implementation and operation of dewatering systems, development of water supplies, and the execution of environmental impact analyses for both open pit and underground mining operations.
John was most recently Vice President Water Management for Barrick Gold Corporation, providing support to Barrick properties worldwide and was responsible for the design and implementation of a corporate water management strategy.
John has also participated in several due-diligence evaluations, regularly conducts expert reviews, and is an experienced auditor.
